An evocative review of Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablets slated for launch in September 2013

The market for tablets is expected to hot up and receive a fresh boost of competition when Amazon goes public with its next-gen Kindle Fire tablets, most probably in the first week of September this year. Amazon sent out invites to different print and electronic media companies for a press meeting in Santa Monica, California scheduled on 6th September. Although Amazon did not reveal or disclose the purpose for calling the press symposium, it is widely rumoured that the online giant will commercially launch the Kindle Fire HD 2 Tablet. Amazon, with a view to garnering a larger slice of the market for its tablets, had been working on the development of two innovative tablets-one to replace the present version and another 10-inch tablet.

Though the Kindle Fire tablet from the Amazon stable meets all the yardsticks of a good quality tablet, it had been facing stiff competition from Google’s Nexus 7, iPad Mini or the Samsung’s Galaxy. Kindle tablets or slates occupied the 2nd slot just behind Apple’s iPad in terms of sales. Samsung’s Galaxy model dislodged Kindle from the 2nd spot for a while but has not been able to keep up the heat and retain its position. Its new model has not been successful in impressing the targeted segment.
Furthermore, as Amazon’s prime competitor in bookselling shifts its focus from tablet hardware production, the company will try to make to most of the newly created opportunities for shoring up its worldwide tablet sales via the Kindle Fire HD 2. The current edition of the Kindle Fire costs $159 but the upcoming version is going to be priced in the region of $99 which will surely stifle competition as all other tablets in its genre are more costly. At that price it’ll be in a position to give stiff competition to Chinese tablets that dominate the Android-oriented tablet market.
The upgraded tablet will come with a higher resolution at 1,280 x 800 pixels (the current one’s resolution is 1,024 x 600 pixels). The diagonal dimension will remain unchanged at 7-inches. The forthcoming array will display an upgraded version of the Kindle Fire HD. This model’s interface resolution will be 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. The diagonal measurement again will remain the same. However, the piece-de-resistance would be the improved edition of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9”. This model’s display resolution would be 2,560 X 1,600 pixels which is a significant step up from the present 8.9” model’s resolution (1,920 x 1,200 pixels). With that kind of resolution, Amazon’s cutting-edge novel tablet will have a higher pixel resolution than Apple’s iPad 9.7 Retina display.
The soon to be launched newer models will also have a sleeker finish with the edges or corners being more chiselled or honed and the sloping will be more even. The volume control and power buttons will be found on the back-case and will be positioned in a manner to prevent unintentional presses while the gadget lies on a flat surface with the display side facing up. The new models will also be more portable than the current ones.
